One day, I was bored and decided to build a wort chiller for my slightly unhealthy interest in homebrewing.
Previously, I used a makeshift setup in the shower, but it didn’t work quite as well as I’d hoped.
And this was the result:
All in all, this cost me about 600 SEK, and everything can be bought at Biltema:
- PVC hose, 12 mm, 5 meters (15-316) - 39.90 SEK
- Hose clamps, Ø 14-16 mm (61-848) - 14.90 SEK
- Nipple, 1/2" (26-714) - 26.90 SEK
- Adapter, M24 x 1 external thread, G1/2" (87-220) - 29.90 SEK
- Support sleeve, 12 x 1.0 mm (87-421) - 59.90 SEK
- Copper pipe, Ø 12 x 1.0 mm, 5 m (87-963) - 449 SEK
Depending on your faucet fitting, you might need additional adapters. You can find various options here.

Assembly Steps #
1. Strip the Plastic Coating #
Remove the plastic from the copper pipe using a knife (preferably one you don’t mind dulling).
2. Trim the Pipe Ends #
If the copper pipe is pinched at the ends, cut them off for better flow.
3. Shape the Coil #
Bend the copper pipe into a spiral—no special tools needed, I used a pot for this.
4. Attach Support Sleeves #
Since copper is soft, use support sleeves at the ends where you’ll clamp hoses.
5. Connect to Faucet #
Attach the setup to your faucet, and you’re good to go!
